My name is Andrew Townley, and as Managing Director of Archistry Limited, I help people solve tough business problems by challenging them to see things more clearly, think about the issue in new ways and succeed by creating business value for their organization. That’s what we mean when we say “Turning innovation into business value.”
I have over 15 years’ experience working in business and technology, including work in diverse industries such as the Public Sector & e-Government, Educational Publishing & e-Learning, Telecommunications, Financial Services, BPO and Software Development across 6 countries and 2 continents. I’ve worked with everything from start-ups to large, multi-nationals including BearingPoint, Deloitte, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and Informix Software and on large, multi-million Euro Public Sector Projects. I’ve also helped start two businesses, in addition to founding Archistry.
I regularly speak at international conferences on successfully applying Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Enterprise Architecture, Information Assurance, e-Government, Information Management and emerging enterprise technologies to deliver measurable business value. Some of my work has also been published in Information Security Bulletin, Running Your Business, ComputerScope and on the InfoQ.com Website.
I am a member of the Association for Computing Machinery, the IEEE Computer Society and the Irish Computer Society.
For the Tweeple
If you found me (and this page) from my Twitter profile, there’s a few things you might also want to know about me:
- I’m on Twitter to meet interesting people, have intelligent conversations and learn new things. If you help me achieve these goals, I’ll follow you back. This means you need to engage with me (at least occasionally).
- I’m not interested in any MLM or Network Marketing scheme you may be offering. Unsolicited @replies or DMs of this nature will get you immediately blocked and reported as spam to the Twipolice.
- I tweet a lot—no, really. See my stats.
What I Tweet About
This is actually harder to generalize than it probably should be. I follow a very diverse set of individuals that reflect my very diverse interests. However, the following main themes apply (in no particular order): Innovation, Leadership, Management, Social Media, Design, Technology, Enterprise Architecture, SOA, Cloud Computing, Information Management, Knowledge Management, Topic Maps and applied Semantic Technologies.
As I mentioned, I’m on Twitter for the conversations, so if you’re not also following some of these people, you’ll be missing out!
- Innovation tweeps:
- Jim Belfiore
- Graham Hill
- Renee Hopkins
- James Todhunter
- Hutch Carpenter
- Julian Keith Loren
- Stone Payton, moderator of #innochat
- Social Media tweeps:
- Laurel Papworth
- Heidi Cool
- Jeremiah Owyang
- Chris Jones, moderator of #smchat
- Technology tweeps:
- Other fascinating people who don’t easily fit into one of the above:
- Paula Thornton, Enterprise 2.0, Design Thinking, Organizational Leadership and many more things
- Richard Veryard, SOA, Enterprise Architecture, Systems Thinking and many more things
- A Jangbrand, a man with interesting thoughts and a broad mind
I also participate in two regularly-scheduled Twitter chats, #smchat and #innochat. #smchat is about applying Social Media to achieve business value, and #innochat (now on yammer) relates to general innovation questions. Follow the links for more information about how to participate and other related resources, including past chat transcripts.
NOTE: this section is undoubtedly incomplete and will change over time as I remember to add the people I forgot, and my usage of Twitter evolves.
Qualifications
I hold a Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Missouri-Rolla, and I also hold the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from (ISC)2.
